Training Course on Energy Simulation & Building Performance Analysis (Fundamental)


ABOUT THE COURSE

The fundamental courses on energy simulation and building performance analysis are conducted over 2 consecutive days in Vietnamese or English language. Learners are (ideally) architects and/or engineers who are concerned about issues related to energy-saving and design optimization.

Learners will first be introduced to general knowledge of energy simulation and building performance analysis. The knowledge acquired will be applied to actual projects. This is coupled with hands-on practice and exercises using the software — with guidance from experts of Designbuilder Vietnam.

Upon completion of the course, you will:

  • Understand the benefits of using building performance simulation to support the design, construction, and operation process; aim for high-performance buildings
  • Understand the process and practices of energy simulation, natural lighting & CFD
  • Obtain a general understanding of the Designbuilder software and learn how to use its energy simulation, parametric analysis, natural lighting, and CFD features

Module 1: Modeling and setting
  1. Introducing the program & getting to know the students
  2. Introduction to Designbuilder software and its application in the design of Green Buildings – energy-saving buildings
  3. General installation & setup guide for Designbuilder software.
  4. Basic rendering
  5. Set the natural conditions of the building site & sun chart feature
  6. Set material options for ceilings, walls, floors, roofs, siding and windows.
  7. Setting up operational functions for the use spaces of the building


Module 2: Calculation simulation and analysis

  1. Set parameters for MEP system (simple form) and equipment operation schedule.
  2. Calculate energy consumption of buildings & analyze data, extract reports.
  3. Use the Parametric feature to compare and find the optimal design solution for energy efficiency.
  4. Introduction to natural lighting.
  5. Use the Daylighting feature to analyze natural lighting.
  6. Introduction to Designbuilder CFD.
  7. Use the CFD feature to assess natural ventilation & thermal comfort inside a building.
  8. Practice tests.
  9. Introducing Case studies & Q&A.
  10. Summarizing the course & awarding certificates of attendance to students
