On May 21, 2026, the EDGE Advanced certification ceremony for the Sugar and By-products Manufacturing Plant of AgriS (Thanh Thanh Cong – Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company) was held in Tay Ninh, with the participation of representatives from IFC, SGS Vietnam as the certification body, VILANDCO, as well as the plant’s leadership and operation team.
This milestone is significant not only for the project itself but also for Vietnam’s industrial manufacturing sector, as the plant becomes one of the pioneering operational industrial facilities to achieve EDGE Advanced certification. According to the certification results, the project achieved:
- 100% energy savings
- 39% water savings
- 100% less embodied carbon in materials
In particular, achieving 100% energy savings is an exceptional accomplishment for an operational industrial facility. The plant actively generates its own energy through an onsite biomass system combined with solar power, not only meeting internal energy demands but also enabling surplus electricity to be fed back into the grid. This result demonstrates the project’s strong progress toward Net Zero energy operations, laying the foundation for long-term decarbonization goals in the future.
In this project, VILANDCO served as the green building consultant, accompanying the Owner throughout the existing condition assessment and documentation process in accordance with EDGE certification requirements.
The project’s achievement of EDGE Advanced certification further highlights the potential for green building implementation in existing factories across Vietnam, especially in energy-intensive manufacturing sectors facing increasing ESG requirements within global supply chains.
