Sakura Kindergarten – The First EDGE-Certified Green Preschool in Vietnam
Located at 430 Cau Am Street, Van Phuc Ward, Ha Dong District, Hanoi, Sakura Kindergarten is a four-story educational building with a total gross floor area of 3,807 m². The project was developed between 2018 and 2019 and has been completed. It officially achieved EDGE certification awarded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), becoming the first green-certified preschool in Vietnam. VILANDCO participated in the project as the green building and EDGE certification consultant.
The project applies integrated sustainable design solutions to optimize operational efficiency, including a 28% reduction in energy consumption through improved building envelope performance, the use of thermal insulation materials, high-efficiency air-conditioning systems, and LED lighting; a 24% reduction in water consumption through low-flow sanitary fixtures; and a 28% reduction in embodied energy by using non-fired concrete bricks. The project serves as a representative model for a safe, environmentally friendly, and sustainable learning environment for children.
