The SHB Ho Chi Minh Tower has officially been awarded the LOTUS NC V3 – Provisional Certification (Platinum level) for the design phase by the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC). Located at 41–43–45 Pasteur Street, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the project has been oriented toward green building standards from the outset, with a strong focus on optimizing energy efficiency, responsible resource utilization, and enhancing indoor environmental quality.
VILANDCO serves as the LOTUS certification consultant for the project, responsible for developing the Platinum achievement strategy, integrating technical solutions in accordance with LOTUS NC V3 requirements, and completing the submission dossier for the assessment council.
Achieving Platinum certification at the design stage—the highest level within the LOTUS system developed by VGBC—not only demonstrates the project’s strong compliance with stringent technical criteria, but also reflects the investor’s clear commitment to sustainable development from the earliest phase of the project.
For the SHB Ho Chi Minh Tower project, the design-stage assessment results indicate that the building has fully met all prerequisite requirements and has been confirmed to be on track to achieve Platinum certification at the completion stage. This serves as clear evidence of the Investor’s well-structured investment strategy and long-term commitment to developing efficient, environmentally friendly buildings that deliver sustainable value.
During the implementation process, the SHB Ho Chi Minh Tower project focused on comprehensively optimizing key components in accordance with LOTUS criteria. The building was optimized for indoor environmental quality and sustainability, with a ventilation system supplying fresh air to over 95% of the usable area, 80% of the space meeting natural daylighting standards, and 100% of occupied areas providing direct outdoor views. All non-load-bearing walls utilize non-fired AAC blocks, contributing to reduced construction-related emissions.
In addition, the project integrates climate change adaptation and flood resilience solutions, while promoting sustainable landscaping with a Greenery Index of 1.64. It also mitigates the urban heat island effect across 50.4% of roof and paved surfaces. The air-conditioning system uses environmentally friendly refrigerants, with an average atmospheric impact index of 11.96, meeting the stringent requirements of the LOTUS system developed by the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC).
As the green building consultant, VILANDCO worked closely with the Investor throughout the process of establishing sustainability strategies, reviewing design solutions, completing technical documentation, and coordinating with the assessment council. Through this close collaboration, the project fully met the stringent requirements of LOTUS NC V3 and achieved positive results at the provisional certification stage.
The achievement of LOTUS certification by SHB Ho Chi Minh Tower not only brings operational and branding benefits to the Investor, but also contributes to promoting the development of green office buildings in Vietnam. The project further demonstrates that, with a sound strategy and the support of experienced consultants, developments in Vietnam can fully align with international green standards and move toward long-term sustainable value.
