On the afternoon of December 15, 2023, the online seminar with the topic “Green materials development trends in Vietnam” took place successfully with a large audience registering and attending.
The workshop was co-organized by Vietnam Green Building Academy – VGBA, VILANDCO company, and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering – HUCE; The program has Saint Gobain Vietnam as the main sponsor, combined with INSEE Vietnam, and Journal of Construction – Ministry of Construction as the media sponsor.
The conference had the participation of leading experts in the field of green materials and green building. Here, attendees had the opportunity to listen to experts and see the issues from the perspective of researchers, green consultants and pioneering businesses.
The webinar started with a presentation by Associate Professor, Ph.D. Nguyen Van Tuan – Department of Construction Materials – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering with the content “Overview & development trends of green materials in Vietnam“, introducing the government’s guidelines and policies in orientation related to the field of materials in Vietnam. He also shared the impacts and effects of materials on the environment, as well as introduced the current status of the green materials market and development trends in the coming time, and gave market orientations. future green materials market.
With the presentation “Green materials in green buildings according to LEED, LOTUS & EDGE certification“, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of VILANDCO shared the requirements, experience, and knowledge of specifically applied green materials. for popular green building certification systems such as LEED, LOTUS and EDGE, and introduces an optimized approach to certifications.
Next in the program is the presentation “Green Material Certification – Practical Implementation Experience” by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung – Head of the Sustainable Construction Department – INSEE Vietnam. The presentation shares product life cycle analysis, CO2e emissions and energy consumption per unit of product in the steel, cement & concrete industries; Implementation methods and calculation methods to achieve green material labels or certifications from reputable organizations around the world. He also shared practical experiences stemming from the difficulties in preparing documents and successfully submitting green material certification for his company.
In addition, the webinar also had the presence of the Technical Director of Saint Gobain Vietnam – Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh with a presentation “New solutions for sustainable construction trends“. He introduced typical green material solutions that help increase construction efficiency, become environmentally friendly and reduce CO2 emissions.
The final presentation at the conference came from MSc, Ph.D student of sustainable development and climate change program in Italy – Mr. Le Dinh Linh with the content “Decarbonization in design – construction – operation of projects” shared the importance of decarbonization in the construction sector, concepts, classification and sources of carbon emissions, decarbonization solutions during the design, construction and operation stages, as well as share solutions Illustrative examples from real projects. With the perspective of his expertise and research, the speaker helps listeners understand and grasp world trends as well as the possibility of implementation in Vietnam in the near future.
At the end of the seminar, a discussion session was held, creating an opportunity for the audience to interact with experts and learn, find answers for questions towards the topic of green materials.
